Antwerp World Fair 1930 Art Deco
Original vintage travel advertising poster in Dutch for the World Fair - Colonial Nautical Flemish Arts - held in Antwerp in 1930. The fair marked the centenary of the establishment of the Belgian kingdom in 1830, and was held in two cities simultaneously: one at Liege focused on Industry and Science, and the one at Antwerp, concerned with colonial and maritime themes. Stunning Art Deco poster featuring a fantastic stylised illustration with seagulls flying in front of a colourful sunset over the sea with a cruise liner ship sailing over the waves behind a smaller sailing boat and a tropical island with palm trees on the horizon, the image pointing down to the text in green and black letters below. Printed by Imp. J. E. Goossens, S.A., Bruxelles. Fair condition, staining, restored loss along right and left margins, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
