Original vintage travel poster - Air Afrique folklore en Haute-Volta / Air Africa folklore of Upper Volta - featuring an image of a traditional carved wooden totem style mask face with black and white triangle shapes and an illustration of an elephant in front of trees set on a green shaded background, the text and Air Afrique (1961-2002) airline logo below. Located on the Volta River in West Africa, the Republic of Upper Volta was established in 1958 and gained independence from France in 1960; in 1984 it changed name to Burkina Faso. Artwork by Jean Dessirier (b. 1944). Very good condition, minor creasing, minor staining, small tears.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
