Original vintage sports advertising poster for the V Winter Olympic Games held in St. Moritz Switzerland from 30 January to 8 February 1948. Colourful illustration by the Swiss painter and graphic designer Alois Carigiet (1902-1985) featuring a skier with a number 48 on his racing bib, standing on the top of a ski slope with his ski poles raised in front of a bright sun against the blue sky, a Swiss flag flying at the top of a row of flags leading down to the mountain peaks in the distance, the text and Olympic rings logo below: La Suisse vous appelle aux Jeux Olympiques d'Hiver St Moritz 30.1./8.2.1948. The 1948 Winter Olympics was the first to be held since 1936 due to World War Two and was hosted in Switzerland as a neutral country with the exclusion of Japan and Germany. Good condition, small tear on the right margin, few stains on the bottom, backed on linen.
