October Eisenstein Ruklevsky Stenberg Brothers Constructivism

£2,500.00

Rare original vintage part of an 8-piece poster for the film October designed by the renowned Soviet artists and graphic designers the Stenberg Brothers (Vladimir 1899-1982; Georgii 1900-1933), and Yakov Ruklevsky (1884-1965). The movie was directed by the pioneering Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein (1898-1948), and Grigori Aleksandrov (aka Mormonenko, 1903-1983), made to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. This dramatic part of the poster features a sailor wearing a cap marked Aurora looking out to the viewer, depicting the moment when a blank shot was fired under Lenin's instruction from the ship Aurora signalling the start of the October Revolution on 25 October 1917 (using the "old" Julian Calendar, which is 7 November using the "new" Gregorian Calendar). Very good condition, light creasing, small restored tears.
