Skye Macbraynes Services Mallaig Armadale Portree Scotland

Original vintage travel poster advertising The Fast Route to Skye by Macbrayne's Services from West Scotland between Mallaig - Armadale - Portree. Great illustration by Alasdair Macfarlane (1902-1960) featuring a scenic view of the ferry boat RMS Loch Seaforth at the port of Armadale on the Isle of Skye with bus coaches of passengers waiting on the docks and another bus driving between trees on the hill below a cloudy sky in the background, seagulls flying over the water in the foreground and the text below with a route map and further information listed as available from David MacBrayne Ltd Glasgow, British Railways offices and tourist agencies. David MacBrayne took over the David Hutcheson & Co. shipping company in 1878 to run passenger and freight services on the West Highland routes; the single funnel Loch Seaforth operated ferry services from 1947-1973. Printed in Scotland. Good condition, restored staining on margins and tears on folds, yellowing on edges, backed on linen.
