Culzean Castle Scotland British Railways


Original vintage British Railways poster for Culzean Castle on the Ayrshire Coast President Eisenhower's Scottish Home See Scotland by Train featuring a great painting of the historic Culzean Castle overlooking the Firth of Clyde on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland sitting majestically on a grassy cliff edge with people walking on the sandy beach below and clouds above in the blue sky and the information text below with the British Railways logo: Information from principal travel agents or British Railways Offices, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto. Culzean Castle was rebuilt in 1777 and 1792 by the Scottish peer David Kennedy the 10th Earl of Cassilis (c.1734-1792); on his death, the castle was inherited by his cousin Archibald Kennedy who lived in New York; in 1946 the Kennedy family gave the castle to the National Trust of Scotland to avoid inheritance tax with an apartment given to the Army General (and later President of the United States) Dwight D. Eisenhower (Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower; 1890-1969). Published for the American tourists for display in the USA. Printed by Jarrold & Sons Ltd Norwich. Excellent condition, backed on linen.
