Carribean BWIA BOAC Cosomati


Original vintage travel poster published by British West Indies Airways (BWIA) to advertise the Carribbean featuring a bright and colourful image of lady in a purple and yellow polka dot dress and red headscarf with gold earrings, holding up a red scarf in the air as she looks up at a plane flying by, a drum and yellow ribbon decorated maracas next to her, and the stylised text above and below with the airline logos. Artwork by the Italian artist and illustrator Aldo Cosomati (1895-1977). Established in 1939, BWIA was a subsidiary of BOAC until 1961 and the leading airline company in the Caribbean based in Trinidad until 2006, when it was replaced by Caribbean Airlines. Silkscreen. Good condition, restored creases, restored tears, restored paper losses, backed on linen.
