Original vintage cruise travel poster advertising Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line to Australia via Malta Port Said and Colombo one class only. Great image of a black Scottish Terrier dog (aka Scottie dog) standing on a boat in the foreground with a ship passing at sea in the background and the company's red and blue flag with a white six pointed star flying over the image on the side. The Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line was founded in 1933 as a result of a buyout between the Aberdeen Line (founded 1825; under the joint control of the White Star Line and Shaw, Savill & Albion Line since 1905) and the Australian Commonwealth Line (founded 1916); the company was dissolved in 1957. Printed by Howard Jones Roberts & Leete Ltd London. Good condition, restored pinholes, folds and foxing, backed on linen.
