24 Heures du Mans 1958 Beligond

Original vintage motor sport poster for the 24 Heures du Mans on 21 and 22 June 1958. Great artwork by Michel Beligond (1927-1973) of a red number 24 race car driving at speed on the race track towards the viewer with its headlights on, another sports car driving behind below a Dunlop branded arch with a cheering crowd below flags flying against the evening sky on the side of the circuit. The 1958 24 Hours Le Mans was the 26th Grand Prix Endurance event that took place on the Circuit de la Sarthe race course; despite a sunny start, the weather soon changed to rainstorms leading to a number of serious accidents; the race was won by the Belgian driver Olivier Gendebien (1924-1998) and the American driver Phil Hill (1927-2008) from team Scuderia Ferrari in a Ferrari 250 TR/58 car; the number 24 racing car was driven by British drivers Peter Jopp and Percy Crabb in a Peerless GT Coupe car. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored crease, backed on linen.
