Large original vintage Soviet film poster for the movie Pordugi (Girlfriends / Подруги) starring Yanina Zhejmo, Irina Zarubina and Zoya Fyodorova as three friends who grow up together and become nurses on the Russian Front during the First World War. Dramatic image depicting three young female nurses in the foreground wearing thick coats and hats with a red cross on one of their armbands, soldiers from the Soviet Army armed with guns behind them and a town visible across the snow in the far distance, the text is above and on the left in red and black stylised letters. This movie was the third collaboration between the director Lev Arnshtam with music by Dmitri Shostakovich (following on from The Golden Mountains in 1931 and Counterplan in 1932). Good condition, repaired folds, and and creases, minor loss and tears on margins, backed on japanese paper.
