United Nations Day 24 October UN World Peace

£125.00

Original vintage poster in French for United Nations Day on 24 October - Journee de Nations Unies 24 Octobre - featuring the iconic United Nations logo of a map of the world centred on the North Pole with two olive branches as a wreath representing world peace in shades of white and blue as if viewed from an eye against a light blue background with the bold lettering below. Following World War Two, the United Nations was established in 1945 replacing the League of Nations (1920-1946) with the aim of preventing future wars and maintaining international peace and security; this intergovernmental organisation is headquartered in New York City and has grown from 51 founding member states to 193 members. United Nations Day has been celebrated around the world on the founding date of the UN since 1948. Approved in 1946, the United Nations emblem was designed by a team led by Oliver Lincoln Lundquist (1916-2008). Very good condition, fold line.
