12 April 1961 Gagarin Cosmonaut Space USSR


Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster featuring a red shaded image of the Soviet pilot and cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin; 1934-1968), who was the first man in space when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the earth on 12 April 1961 (celebrated annually as День космонавтики / Cosmonautics Day), wearing a space helmet marked CCCP / USSR inside a red Soviet star with stars in the night sky background and the stylised text below. Good condition, restored tears, restored creases, small restored paper loss, backed on linen.
