Maurin Quina Aperitif Green Devil Cappiello

£2,500.00

Original antique advertising poster for a flavoured quinine alcohol drink - Maurin Quina Le Puy - featuring an iconic design by the renowned poster artist Leonetto Cappiello (1875-1942) of a green devil sneakily opening a bottle of the French quina aperitif against the dark background, the bold yellow lettering below with the artist's name and a small paint palette and brushes logo. The depiction of the green devil may allude to La Fee Verte / The Green Fairy that was a popular nickname for absinthe at the time. Printed by P. Vercasson & Cie, 43 Rue de Lancry, Paris. Large size. Fair condition, restored tears, paper losses, staining, foxing, creasing, backed on linen.
