Forward Pennsylvania Railroad Victory WWII Dean Cornwell

Original vintage World War Two poster for the Pennsylvania Railroad featuring a dynamic painting by Dean Cornwell (1892-1960) entitled Victory of an Art Deco streamlined steam locomotive train travelling at speed along a railway track past a farmer on a tractor ploughing a field with a military scene above showing soldiers in uniform armed with guns charging forward with tanks flying American flags and firing their guns. The American illustrator and muralist Dean Cornwell (the "Dean of Illustrators") was best known for his oil paintings used in magazines and books as well as posters promoting the war effort; the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR or "Pennsy") was founded in 1846, merging with New York Central NYC in 1968 to form the Penn Central Transportation Company; like many companies from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Pennsylvania Railroad produced advertising calendars as part of their marketing campaign. Horizontal. Fair condition, restored creases, restored tears, backed on linen.
