Dom Perignon is located in the monastery that was previously home to Dom Pierre Perignon known as the Father of Champagne and who is often credited with inventing Champagne sparkling wine; the Dom Perignon champagne label was introduced in 1921 produced by the Moet et Chandon champagne house (founded 1743).
