Champagne Edouard Besserat


Original antique drink advertising poster for Edouard Besserat Champagne featuring a painting by a French artist Gaston Marechaux (1872-c.1936) of person wearing a hat and pleated ruffle collar outfit in shades of red holding up an open bottle of bubbling champagne for a smiling young lady dressed in an elegant backless dress with a light shawl and large flowing skirt in shades of pink and red, high heel shoes with pearl jewellery and a feather headdress, both casting shadows in black and blue against the swirling red background, the title text in bold white and black lettering above. Founded in 1843 by Edouard Besserat de Bellefon in Ay France, this champagne house became known for its light sparkles and fine bubbles (now owned by the Lanson MCC Group). Fair condition, large tear, paper loss in bottom left corner, paper loss on image, minor staining, backed on board.
