Soviet Baltic Pilots Attack WWII Nazi Navy

£950.00

Original vintage World War Two poster depicting a battle scene showing Baltic pilots destroying enemy warships at sea with an illustration of planes flying through smoke in the sky and bombing the ships with a burning plane diving into the sea, explosions on the water and men overboard near warships on fire and sinking in front of the sun shining on the horizon, the text below providing information on the German Nazi Army attempts to strengthen its position on the Narva River by bringing new troops and equipment via the Baltic Sea. In March 1944 the Soviet Army's Baltic pilots sunk 40 enemy ships and destroyed more than 100 German fighter jets; in April Baltic pilots spotted two groups of enemy ships in the Gulf of Finland and dive bombers inflicted three consecutive concealed strikes; despite the anti-aircraft fire and counter-measures of the enemy fighters, all Soviet planes destroyed the enemy's minesweeper ship, patrol boat, and landing barge - including a mention of the outstanding success of pilots Shcherbina, Babenkov, Sharovoy and Belyaev, and praising the increased military prowess and indomitable offensive spirit of the Baltic people. Horizontal. Good condition, repaired tears, creasing, staining, tears.

FAQs

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
