Our northern flying routes link the continents together and make Canada a focal point in the new air age - featuring an image from the painting by the Canadian painter and Group of Seven (1920-1933) founding member Alexander Young Jackson (1882-1974) depicting a dramatic subarctic landscape lit up by radiant colourful green and yellow ribbons of the Aurora Borealis in the sky, a plane flying over the snow covered mountains with truckes driving on the newly constructed Alaska Highway between barren trees, the title text above and with the information below. Completed in 1942, the Alaska Highway / Route de l'Alaska in North America was constructed during WWII to connect the USA with Alaska through Canada. Issued by the Wartime Information Board.
