[ON RESERVE 18/4/24] Original vintage World War Two poster featuring an illustration by the Polish painter and official war artist Feliks Topolski (1907-1989) of a lady dressed up to go out, drawing a seam line up the back of her leg due to the wartime nylon rationing to give the impression she's wearing stockings, a Scots Guards Officer at the door offering to help draw the line for her in the words of a poem below by the English author, museum curator, art and fashion historian James Laver (1899-1975), titled For Denise Who Proposes To Paint Her Legs (Enter a Scots Guards Officer in his "Blue"). Penguin Print No. 4 of which 10,000 copies have been lithographed and the plates destroyed. Drawn by Feliks Topolski Text by James Laver Lithographed in England at the Baynard Press, London and published by Penguin Books Ltd of Harmondsworth. Good condition, creasing, tears, staining.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
