Original vintage travel poster advertising the historic cathedral city of York on the London & North Eastern Railway of England and Scotland LNER. Great design entitled Monk Bar featuring artwork by Fred Taylor (1875-1963) depicting a classic car and a people in suits standing in front of the Monk Bar gatehouse entrance to the city of York with a colourful fruit and vegetable stall in the foreground, the tall towers of the gate rising in the background. The title and information text below with a grey circle on the image reading - via Anvers Journalier (Dimanche excepte) ou Zeebrugge Service d'ete et Harwich / via Antwerp Daily (Except Sunday) or Zeebrugge Summer service and Harwich. Built in the 14th century as a fort the Monk Bar gatehouse now houses the Richard III Experience at the Monk Bar Museum. Published by the London & North Eastern Railway. Printed by Baynard Press. Good condition, staining, creasing, small tears, pinholes, small paper loss in bottom left corner, stamp in bottom right corner.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
