Original vintage train travel poster for Bourgogne / Burgundy issued by the National Society of French Railways SNCF Societe Nationale Des Chemins De Fer Francais featuring artwork by Gerard Alexandre (1914-1974) depicting a large glass of red wine in front of picturesque architecture including the Gothic Hotel-Dieu Museum / Hospices de Beaune almshouse founded in 1443 with its colourful tiled roof as well as other historic buildings and spires and an old stone arch bridge over water, the bold title in blue lettering and SNCF logo below with a map of France highlighting the region. Good condition, restored tears, small restored paper loss on bottom edge, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
