Spradbery (1889-1969) showing the church spire rising above the city ruins caused by bombing during World War Two into the sky with green trees in the foreground and a poem by John Gay (1685-1732) below - Where the fair columns of St Clement stand Whose straiten’d bounds encroach upon the Strand - and a note: This historic church burnt down in an air raid, stood on an "island" in the middle of The Strand, one of London’s busiest streets. This is one of a series of six posters displayed in London by the London Passenger Transport Board. Printed by Baynard Press, London. What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
