LT Cutty Sark Clipper Ship London

£550.00

Original vintage London Transport poster advertising the historic Cutty Sark museum ship in Greenwich featuring a great design by the notable artist Tom Eckersley (1914-1997) depicting the iconic tea clipper in full sail against a yellow background with a white sun, the image inside the shape of an oil lamp on a shaded brown background with the text and London Underground roundel below - In 1871 Cutty Sark, heavily laden with the first tea crop, raced from Shanghai in 108 days. She carried 32,000 square feet of sail and was capable of 17.5 knots. She now rests dry-berthed at Greenwich, the last of the clippers, the sole survivor of an age. Built in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869 Cutty Sark is a British clipper ship, one of the last and fastest tea clippers to be built. The free leaflet A Day Out in Greenwich describes the many interesting things to explore there. Please write for a copy to the Public Relations Officer at 55 Broadway, London SW1 or ask at any London Transport Travel Enquiry Office. Printed by Cook Hammond and Kell Ltd. FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
