LT Christopher Wren London Transport
Original vintage London Transport poster commemorating Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723) featuring various images of the notable English architect, astronomer, mathematician and physicist with his signature, the text and London Underground roundel logo below - Sir Christopher Wren was a Londoner, and London is fortunate that it was here that he achieved the bulk of his life's work. Wren was content that St. Paul's should be his memorial - Si monumentum requiris, circumspice - but the capital is rich in buildings that display his protean genius - sombrely dignified St. Lawrence Jewry; intimate St. Vedast, Foster Lane; the Royal Hospital, Chelsea; the tremendous Royal Naval College, Greenwich ... One of London Transport's free publications, Christopher Wren (newly revised), will help you plan your exploration, tell you much about this great man and his work, and suggest how to get there by bus and Underground. Ask at any London Transport Enquiry Office or write to the Public Relations Officer, 55 Broadway, SW1H 0BD. Artwork by the British artist and poster designer Graham Clarke (b.1941). FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
