Original vintage travel advertising poster published by the Chemins de Fer de l'Etat / National French Railways to promote tourism to the holiday seaside resort town of Deauville in the Calvados department of Normandy on the Cote Fleurie / Flowery Coast. Stunning aerial illustration by Roger de Valerio (1886-1951) depicting horse racing at the hippodrome with trees in the fields, formal gardens, chateau manor houses and churches, planes flying over the aerodrome airport, yachts in the harbour and trains at the railway station, holidaymakers sunbathing and children playing on the sandy beach dotted with sun umbrellas and beach huts and people swimming in the sea with a ferry and sailing boat on the blue water, the title text in stylised lettering casting a shadow at the top with the word Etat linked three times in green above and Chemins de Fer de l'Etat on a train carriage below. Printed by Devambez, Paris. Good condition, tears, paper loss in the bottom left corner.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
