Ceylon Sri Lanka Tea Production

£750.00

Original vintage map of Ceylon highlighting the island's tea estates, production and export infrastructure marking the towns and transport links with the main areas of tea production primarily located in the hills of the Central Highlands shaded in red, the major ports for tea export including Colombo, Galle and Trincomalee in red, and the dry zone where lower rainfall makes these area unsuitable for growing tea, the title and reference box with altitude on the side, an elephant icon marking the game reserves and bolt of lightening marking hydro electric schemes with planes showing the locations of the airports - This map shows how Ceylon's tea estates are mainly concentrated in the hilly Central districts; broadly speaking, the best flavoured tea comes from the cooler highlands, in contrast with the lush growth of the low country. Ceylon gets well over 60% of her export revenue from tea and she comes second among the world's suppliers. Some 520,000 workers are employed on the 570,000 acres of the tea estates. Published by the Ceylon Tea Centre, London. Produced by A.W. Gatrell & Co. Good condition, creasing, staining, tears.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
