Original vintage Africa travel poster for the Belgian Congo / Congo Belge featuring a pictorial map designed by Frans Laboulais (1903-1988) of the Congo bordered by French Equatorial Africa, Sudan, Uganda, Tanganyika, Rhodesia and Angola with illustrations depicting the roads, railways, flight routes, national parks, churches, rivers, fruit, the Atlantic Ocean, wild animals, hydroelectric dams and locations of precious commodities and food produce including gold, diamonds, uranium, bananas, corn, cattle, coffee, cacao, wheat and fish, a legend on the side and a village scene below of people working next to a building marked Offert par la Banque de la Societe General de Belgique and the company logo, palm trees, musical instruments, pottery and tools set within a patterned border, the title text and coat of arms above. Large size. Fair condition, large stain, restored tears through image, restored paper losses on edges, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
