Stationery Office by Multi Machine Plates Ltd, London EC4 - ATS Cook for the Troops Great responsibility is borne by the ATS cooks who serve our troops with nourishing food well cooked - featuring a young lady with her sleeves rolled up, wearing a cook's apron and cap, cutting dough for biscuits in front of an oven with a grid line background, the text above and below with the ATS logo. The ATS (Auxiliary Territorial Service, 1938-1949) was the women's branch of the British Army during World War Two. The first women recruited to the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) worked as cooks, clerks and storekeepers. As time went on the range of duties expanded and women served as office, mess and telephone orderlies, drivers, postal workers, ammunition inspectors and signal operators. By June 1945, there were over 190,000 members of the ATS from all across the British Empire and Commonwealth. Good condition, folded, repaired tear on fold line, restored minor loss on bottom right margin.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
