Original antique World War One poster advertising the multi-part historical chronicle Der Europaische Krieg / The European War written by the Austrian journalist and historian Andreas Hemberger (1876-1946) featuring a dynamic design symbolising the creeping destruction of Europe by the graphic artist Robert Wosak (1876-1944) depicting soldiers as mythological warriors holding spears and swords fighting on rearing war horses on top of a globe with a serpent slithering past wounded men through dark storm clouds and red blood running down the world like lava, a family visible in the background and the bold stylised title text in a frame detailing the contents about the military events of 1914 as well as numerous illustrations, maps and battle plans published by A. Hartleben's Verlag in Vienna and Leipzig, available in regular installments of 4 sheets (32 pages) in quarto format for 50 Heller / 40 Pfennig. Fair condition, restored tears, restored folds, restored paper losses, restored pinholes, restored creasing, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
