Original vintage sport poster for the IXth British Commonwealth Games Edinburgh Scotland 16-25 July 1970 featuring a dynamic image of athletes running in the foreground with colourful flags of the various Commonwealth countries flying above the historic Edinburgh Castle on a hill below the St Andrews Cross and thistle emblem of the event and bold title text in black and blue lettering. This multi-sport event has been held since 1930; 42 nations participated in the 1970 Commonwealth Games, opened by Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh and held at the Meadowbank Stadium. Printed for Scottish Tourist board by Petyt Ltd. Good condition, creasing, tears, staining.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
