Original vintage travel poster advertising the popular holiday resort town of Scarborough on the North Yorkshire coast by the London & North Eastern railway of England and Scotland LNER - It's Quicker By Rail - featuring a scenic view by the Scottish scenographer, painter and mural artist Doris Zinkeisen (Doris Clare Zinkeisen; 1898-1991) titled In Grandmother's Day featuring people in Victorian dress enjoying a day at the seaside with a group sitting in front of the spa bandstand and others walking along the promenade with beach huts on the sand and sailing boats on the North Sea in front of the historic 12th century castle ruins on the hill in the distance, the bold text in white lettering on the black border below. Printed by Waterlow and Sons Ltd, London, Dunstable and Watford. Horizontal. Large size. Good condition, restored folds, restored tears, small restored paper losses on image, minor staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
