The Battle of the Atlantic between German Nazi U-Boats and Kriegsmarine ships against the Allied navy and merchant shipping forces including the Royal Navy, Royal Canadian Navy and US Navy was fought from 1939-1945, resulting in Allied victory at the end of World War Two and becoming longest naval battle in history and the longest military campaign during WWII.
