Original vintage World War Two recruitment poster calling for nurses - You are needed now Join the Army Nurse Corps Apply at your Red Cross recruiting station - featuring an elegant photo by the notable American photographer Ruzzie Green (Kneeland L'Amoureux Green; 1892-1956) of a young lady in a smart US Army uniform with an Army Nurse Corps branch insignia badge on the lapels of her jacket set against a light blue background. Established in 1901, the United States Army Nurse Corps' successful recruitment campaign during WWII increased the number of nurses from a thousand at the beginning of the war to 65,000 in both the Army and Army Air Force and the Navy by 1945. What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
