The Treasure Houses of London: Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, British Museum, London Museum. Places where on wet days it is dry and comfortable. Travel by Underground. Great image of an Oriental dragon on a black background adopted by F Beard from a figure on a Japanese cloisonne enamel vase. Published by Underground Electric Railway Company Ltd, 1921, printed by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd. Very good condition, repaired minor tears and losses on margins, backed on linen.
Freda Beard was a portrait painter and commercial artist who designed posters for the London Underground from 1921-1926. Her artwork was used for a variety of poster designs, including the 1924 British Empire Exhibition and the Royal Mail Line shipping company. She exhibited twice at the Royal Academy.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
