Original vintage advertising poster for the Scuola di Danza Sakharoff School of Dance in Rome Italy featuring a great graphic design on a red and black depicting an illustration in white, grey and black of a lady wearing a leotard with ribbons at the top of her hat, standing in a pointed toe ballet pose with the stylised title lettering on the side and below with the information and contact details - Apetura dei Corsi 15 Ottobre Roma Piazza del Collegio Romano 2 / Course Opening 15 October Roman College Square. The innovative Russian dancer, teacher and choreographer Alexander Sakharoff / Sakharov (1886-1963) studied in France and toured with his wife, the German dancer Clotilde von der Planitz (1893-1974); in 1950 he was invited to teach in Rome where they opened their own dance school. Good condition, large restored tears, restored paper losses on edges, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
