Original vintage advertising poster for Meinl India Tee featuring a great illustration by Otto Exinger (1897-1957) of an elephant walking towards the viewer though water with a turbaned man and crates of tea on its back in front of palm trees and green hills in the background, the title text below. Founded in Vienna in 1862, Julius Meinl specialises in premium tea and coffee, jams and preserves and other fine food; by 1913 the company was the largest importer of tea and coffee in Central Europe; the company continues to sell tea, coffee and other gourmet products today from its base in Vienna. Otto Exinger was employed by Julius Meinl's advertising design studio in 1926; he became the studio director in 1927 and worked there until his death in 1957. Printed by Druck F. Adametz, Wein. Very good condition, light creasing, folds, small print mark on top right corner.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
