Original vintage Chinese propaganda poster - Independence Self-reliance Industry learning from Daqing / 独立自主 自力更生 工业学大庆 - featuring a winter image of two smiling men wearing fur hats and warm coats with a portrait of Chairman Mao on the front, operating machinery in the snow with a train and an oil rig in the background, the title in bold red below. This poster is part of the industrialisation campaign following the discovery of oil in Daqing in 1959; the region in the north east became known as the Oil Capital of China and the success of the Daqing Oil Field was promoted as a model of Chinese industry and example of the country's growing economy (Daqing means Great Celebration). The Chinese Eastern Railway CER was built in 1897-1902 by the Russian Empire. Horizontal. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
