Opened in 1924 the ceremonial Gateway of India arch monument in Mumbai (Bombay) was built to commemorate the coronation of George V as Emperor of India in 1911; the triumphal arch is styled on Indo-Islamic 16th century Gujarati architecture designed by the Scottish architect George Wittet (1878-1926), the first President of The Indian Institute of Architects (established 1917). Issued by the Directorate of Publicity, Bombay. Artist signature printed in bottom right of image. Good condition, restored punched holes on bottom edge, restored tears, restored creasing, some discolouration, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
