Original vintage cruise ship travel advertising poster for Shaw Savill Lines - England - South Africa - Australia - New Zealand featuring a great illustration by William McDowell (1988-1950) of the Dominion Monarch ocean liner sailing at sea in front of a sailing boat with two tugboats in the foreground and the text in the margins above and below. Shaw Savill Lines (1882-1974) was a British shipping company that operated services between Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand; the QSMV Dominion Monarch (1939-1962) was a first class passenger and refrigerated cargo liner and the largest and fastest ship at the time operating the UK to Australasia route; during WWII she served as a troop ship. Very good condition, restored tears on margins, small stain on left margin, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
