Hellas Aegean Cruises Semiramis Greece
Original vintage cruise travel poster - Hellas 1956 Aegais-Kreuzfahrten mit M/S Semiramis / Greece 1956 Aegean Cruises with M/S Semiramis - promoting maritime tourism to the Greek islands featuring a great midcentury design of a traditional ancient Greek sailing ship in orange and red against a blue background, the bold title text above and below with the classic holiday destinations around the boat including Santorini, Delos, Mykonos, Rhodos, Kriti, Samothraki, Thassos, Scopelos, Skyros, Milos and Skiathos, and a silhouette image of the yacht style liner in white below. Founded and run by the Potamianos family, the Epirotiki Lines (1850-2005) shipping company was a pioneer of Aegean Sea cruises offering the first trips around the Greek Islands and Eastern Mediterranean with the Hellenic National Tourist Office. The M/S Semiramis (1953-1979) was their first liner to provide these popular 3-4 to 7 day round-trip sightseeing cruises following a major refit and rebuild with a modern promenade deck, lounge, dining room and private facilities in the cabins; the ship was originally named the MS Calabar and built for Elder Dempster Lines (1935-1953). Published for the Greek National Tourism Organisation in collaboration with Greek travel bureaus. Printed by Aspioti-Elka, Athens. Very good condition, creasing.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
