Original vintage cruise travel poster - Giulio Cesare Genoa Buenos Ayres Navigazione Generale Italiana - featuring an image of the ocean liner at sea above smaller views showing the Classe de Luxe / luxury class life on board the SS Giulio Cesare (launched 1920) including The Entertainment Salon with comfortable sofas and chairs and paintings on the panelled walls, The Gallery with windows to enjoy the sea view, Smokers Cafe Lounge and Verandah Promenade depicting people walking along the covered walkway, a gentleman looking out over the ocean and a lady relaxing on a deck chair, with the bold text between the images and details on the steam ship - 20 knots an hour 27000 tons 200 metres - and the bold title lettering in red at the top. The SS Giulio Cesare provided first, second and tourist class passenger services on the Italy to South America route for the Italian shipping company Navigazione Generale Italiana NGI; from her maiden voyage in 1922 until 1925 she was one of the largest ships in the Italian merchant fleet with the SS Duilio; she became part of the Italian Line from 1932 until 1942; she was then used by the International Red Cross during World War Two and was sunk by an Allied air attack in 1944 while she was out of use in the port in Trieste. Good condition, restored folds, restored creasing, restored tears, restored paper loss, foxing, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?

Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography. 

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
