Original vintage health charity poster - Give to Conquer Cancer Strike Back - issued by the New York City Cancer Committee of the American Cancer Society (founded 1913). Dynamic design by Walter Bomar (1918-1988) featuring the Society's Sword of Hope symbol of a crusader hand holding out a sword with the classical themed medical twin-serpent caduceus symbol as the handle against a blue background with the stylised text above and below. The Sword of Hope logo was designed by George E. Durant who won the first prize in a 1928 poster competition held by the American Society for the Control of Cancer (ASCC; renamed the American Cancer Society in 1945) and the New York City Cancer Committee. Good condition, tears, creases, staining in margin.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
