Original vintage Guinness advertising poster - Opening Time is Guinness Time - featuring an iconic design depicting the trademark smiling toucan using his colourful bill to open a bottle of Guinness extra stout, the title in bold green and red letters on the side. One of the world's most popular beer drink brands, Guinness is an Irish dry stout founded by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759. The toucan was introduced to the company's marketing campaign in 1935 by John Gilroy and Dorothy Sayers working for the advertising firm S.H. Benson; the animals were dropped from Guinness adverts in 1982 when the company changed advertising agency. Printed in Great Britain by Sanders Phillips Co. Horizontal. Very good condition, restored creasing, restored insignificant tear on the right margin, restored paper loss on the top right corner, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
