Guinness Is Good For You Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter Gilroy
Original vintage Guinness advertising poster featuring a fun and rare Alice in Wonderland themed illustration by the notable artist John Gilroy (John Thomas Young Gilroy; 1898-1985) of the Mad Hatter's Tea Party depicting a colourful cartoon image of the iconic Mad Hatter character with his arms crossed under his polka dot bow tie, sitting at a table next to the animal characters including The March Hare, Mouse and The Lory (parrot) and Alice in Wonderland, created by the well-known English writer Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson; 1832-1898), with the stylised text and conversation on the poster reading - Why was the Hatter mad? (Still more apologies to Lewis Carroll) "Have some Guinness?" asked the March Hare. "I don't see any Guinness," Alice replied. "There isn't any" said the March Hare. "Then you must be mad to offer me some!" said Alice, indignantly. "It's after hours," said the Hatter, "and we can't get any. That's enough to make anyone mad." "But surely you could have ordered some to drink at home," said Alice. "There!" said the March Hare. "We never thought of that. That just shows how mad we must be." Guinness Is Good For You. More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All our antique and vintage posters, books, maps and prints listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
