Original vintage drink advertising poster for Guinness - See the Guinness Animals at Edinburgh Zoo - featuring a fun and colourful image of all the iconic Guinness animals gathered around a zoo keeper wearing a green uniform and cap and sitting on a smiling crocodile, including a toucan bird on the arm of a bear, an ostrich with the shape of a pint glass in its throat, a seal, lion, polar bear, kangaroo with a joey peeking out from her pouch, a penguin, pelican, turtle and a sloth hanging upside down from a tree in the corner, the bold title text in red. Many of these animals were part of a popular advertising campaign run by Guinness during the 1930s and 1940s, which included slogans with images of animals by the English artist, John Gilroy (1898-1985). One of the world's most popular brands of beer drink, Guinness is an Irish dry stout founded by Arthur Guinness in Dublin in 1759. Edinburgh Zoo in Scotland was opened in 1913 as the Scottish National Zoological Park. Printed by Wickham Displays Limited. Good condition, small restored tears, browning, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
