Original vintage air travel poster for the French airline UAT Union Aeromaritime de Transport (1949-1963) promoting routes to Africa and Asia featuring a great design by the painter and illustrator Toni Mella (1907-1984) depicting two antelopes / gazelles in a savanna landscape, one looking at the viewer and the other lying by a tree, with a De Havilland Comet jet plane flying above leaving stylised geometric trail lines over the UAT letters, the rest of the text below - UAT Aeromaritime AOF AEF Extreme Orient / French West Africa (Afrique Occidentale Francaise) French Equatorial Africa (Afrique Equatoriale Francaise) Far East - with the company's blue and yellow pennant and stars logo. Printed in Paris by Imp. Darboy. Good condition, restored tears, restored paper losses, staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
