Rare original vintage drink advertising poster for Ovaltine - Officially recognised at Olympic & Empire Games Ovaltine the supreme food beverage Invigorates and Sustains - featuring a colourful illustration of groups of athletes carrying flags of their countries and walking around the stadium filled with spectators in the stands, more flags flying against the blue sky above with a jar of Ovaltine on the side, the label reading - A concentrated extract of malt, milk, cocoa and eggs. Fortified with additional vitamins - and the title text in bold stylised lettering on the border above and below. Founded in Switzerland in 1904 Ovomaltine is a chocolate cocoa malt milk drink exported to the UK as Ovaltine in 1909 and based at a factory in Kings Langley Hertfordshire (the company's Art Deco building closed when production ended in 2002); the dried powder can be mixed with hot or cold milk to make the drink. During 1948 London Olympics it was supplied to athletes as a performance enhancing drink. Horizontal. Poor condition, several restored paper losses, restored tears, restored folds, staining, backed on linen.

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
