Original vintage advertising poster for an Exhibition To The Glory of the African Army since 1830 / A La Gloire de l'Armee d'Afrique under the high patronage of the President of the Republic and the Minister of National Defense at the Palace of the Marseille Stock Exchange held from 19 May to 15 July 1955 featuring colourful artwork of a cavalry regiment troop on horses grouped in a circle, one horse rearing up its front legs and the soldier in the foreground wearing a cape over his trousers in the red white and blue colours of the French flag, the bold text against the blue sky above and the desert sand below. Artwork by the official military painter of the French foreign legion Pierre Benigni (1878-1956), d'apres P. Benigni. Printed by SOPIC, Marseille. Large size. Good condition, folds, creasing, small tears on edges, minor staining.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Practically all of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves carving each colour of the image onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, we believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £25 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?
Yes. Our gallery is based in London. Our address is 404 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW10 0LJ.
Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
