Original vintage sports poster for the II. Deutsches Turn- und Sportfest / 2nd German Gymnastics and Sports Festival held in Leipzig from 2 to 5 August 1956 featuring a great design depicting a gymnast in a white uniform with the black, red and gold German flag on the front, suspended mid-air with his body straight and arms outstretched performing on the still rings against a dark blue and green shaded background, the bold text in yellow and pink below. This mass sporting event was open to all age groups and was the first to be held in the new Zentralstadion / Central Stadium in East Germany; the other sports included football and athletics. Printed by VEB Ratsdruckerei Dresden. Very good condition, creasing, minor staining.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
