Original vintage winter sport travel poster for the Winter Games Ski Competition of the 7th National Sports Festival 第7回国体スキー大会 held in Otaru Hokkaido from 5 to 9 March 1952 featuring a lively and colourful illustration of people having fun in the snow, showing skiers skiing down the mountain and falling down the slopes with smiling children sledding and a couple waving to the viewer from a chair lift above a ski jumper and people taking of their skis by a snow topped building, a Japanese Akita dog and a white rabbit jumping in the shade of a fir tree with the title in English in bold red letter above - Hokkaido - and the Olympic flame style logo and rest of the text in Japanese below. Published by Japan National Railways (Sapporo), Otaru City, and the Hokkaido Tourism Federation. Good condition, restored tears, restored creasing, minor staining, backed on linen.

Are your posters originals?

What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
